This is Your Sign to Start Your Fitness Journey
4 - 5 minute read time
Let’s be real—the hardest part of your fitness journey is simply getting started.
We all have our reasons for putting it off. Maybe it’s intimidation. Maybe you’re overwhelmed. Maybe you just don’t want to give up certain habits yet. I get it—I've been there too.
When I first started, I wasn’t the strongest, fastest, or biggest. I was actually the smallest guy in the gym and usually the last one picked for teams. But my senior year of high school, I finally earned a starting spot on the football team. I was proud, excited, and ready to prove to myself—and everyone else—that I was good enough.
Then, life happened.
Right before the season started, I broke my leg in a freak accident on the field. Just like that, my season—and what felt like my moment—was over. Not being able to play crushed me. But that injury also led me to something new: progressing in weight lifting.
The time I couldn’t have on the field I took to hitting the weight room. Lifting gave me purpose, discipline, and most importantly, confidence. I’ve now been lifting for over six years, and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner.
It’s Okay to Start Small — Just Start
I’m not here to tell you to start training seven days a week or to ditch every food you love. But I will say this: you’ve got to start somewhere. Even one small step today is better than waiting for the "perfect" time that may never come.
Here are a few small changes that can make a big impact over time:
Workout once a week. If that’s where you need to start, great. A walk counts. A bodyweight workout at home counts. Just move.
Cut back gradually. If you eat fast food three times a week, try cutting it down to one. Small swaps add up.
Adjust portion sizes. You don’t have to cut everything out—just eat a little less and save the rest for later. Stop eating once you feel satiated, you do not need to eat past the feeling of “full”.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
Fitness isn’t a 30-day challenge. It’s a lifetime commitment to a healthier you. Progress won’t happen overnight, but the more you put it off, the more you're holding yourself back.
The truth is, most people who finally start their fitness journey always say the same thing:
“I wish I had started sooner.”
So let this be your sign. Your reminder. Your friendly push.
You don’t have to do it perfectly—you just have to begin.
If this meme hits a little too close to home... 👀😅 Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. But hey—today’s a great day to stop the cycle and finally get started!
